Chilika Lake, an ecological marvel of Eastern India, cradles and nurtures the meticulously crafted ODI ART CENTRE. The Centre is home to the Purvasha Folk and Tribal Art Museum, built with financial assistance from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the Department of Tourism and Culture, Government of Odisha. It was inaugurated in 2017 by Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon. Chief Minister of Odisha. ODI ART, spread over five acres of land, was developed by a non-profit, cultural, registered society, the ‘Society for the Development of Rural Literature,’ with the noble objective of preserving traditional and folk heritage. The centre, designed to reflect local textures and tones, has showcased the folk and tribal arts of Odisha, juxtaposed with folk arts from other states and countries. Chilika, Asia’s largest brackish water lake, garners global attention as a bird sanctuary and captivates nature lovers. It now has the ODI ART Centre as a folk art sanctuary to attract creative minds and artists. ODI ART, an ethnic art complex adorned with carefully curated artifacts in the galleries and art garden, features nine amphitheaters and kiosks for folk performances, site-specific installations, and exhibitions, a state-of-the-art conference hall, and a library to inspire creative minds.
